[2 Minute Read]
It was many many years ago that I was introduced to analytics…. I can still recall, I was in another country at the time and it was really cold outside…. I can recall we were at the office playing with a product called Qlik and from the moment I saw how the Qlik technology works with my data I was hooked….
I can honestly say that by the time we created our first analytical view that showed me a comparison of my GP across multiple regions, products and customers I was in love and I knew it would not be a short term affair….
Why love analytics you may ask? What can analytics do that reports can’t do and it really is not that I have something against reports….. I just can’t settle for 2nd best so it’s a personal choice. Why would I make decisions based on factual insights rather than just information about what has happened? Please note that these views are solely my own and certainly bias as I am completely enamored by the comprehensiveness of my analytics and ability to explore my data without having to pull a single report…
One may call this an infatuation I suppose as I want to play with my browser and app all the time… and now Aime the InsightsBot knows all my KPI data so I don’t even need to open a browser to get my numbers anymore… I still LOVE to explore my data. There are so many insights across my customers, expenses and GP analysis that I feel completely in control of my business and finances! The way analytics takes care of my data and turns it into insights through comparisons, trends, rankings, associative selections and more just totally does it for me….
It really is a different kind of love to love technology purely for it’s total value proposition instead of it’s functionalities and features… since those days so many years ago we have come a long way together where we have build systems and platforms that we have shared with our customers globally.
My love affair has brought me to a new venture in my life which allows me to play with analytics all the time. We now work with bookkeepers and accountants, franchisees & Non Profits and companies to provide them with analytics on their cloud accounting data so I am literally living the dream!
